About Very Funny Gifts

Who are you guys?

Based out of Atlanta, GA, Very Funny Gifts, Inc. started from one idea hatched over 5 years ago: candles for men. We’re very proud to finally be selling Manterns as our flagship and first product. As we expand into new markets with new products, we will always stay committed to creating and selling quality, humorous gifts that you will enjoy giving to those you love (or even just like a little bit).

About Manterns: Candles for Men

What do I get with my candle order?

Manterns candles are a complete gift package. The gift consists of:

  • A soy-blend candle crafted in an 11oz Libbey rocks glass. The glass can be used long after the candle has finished burning
  • A box of matches
  • A plastic lid to keep debris out of the candle while not lit
  • An instruction card on how to remove the wax from the glass
  • Every candle is wrapped in 2 sheets of orange tissue paper and comes packaged in a glossy white giftbox
What kind of ingredients do you use for your candles?

Our wax is a soy-blend wax which is a combination of soy and paraffin waxes. This gives the candle a softer, creamy texture and because soy is a renewable resource, helps to make our planet just a little bit greener. The wax is 100% non-toxic.

Our glasses are 11oz rocks glasses manufactured by Libbey glass company right here in the USA.

Do you have any candle burning tips?

No matter how manly a candle is, it’s still a good old-fashioned open flame, and a potential fire hazard if not carefully monitored. First, the 3 rules of candle burning:

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire.
  • Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.

Additional Tips on how to burn a candle safely:

Before Lighting:

  • Trim the wick to 1/4” before burning.
  • Burn candles in a well ventilated room.
  • Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
  • Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and other debris at all times.
  • Avoid drafts, vents or air currents.

While Burning:

  • Never touch or move a burning candle. Never move a candle when the wax is liquefied.
  • Don’t burn a candle all the way down. Stop burning when a 1/2” of wax is left and use the instruction card to remove the remaining wax so you can continue to enjoy using the rocks glass.
  • Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly.
  • Always keep the candle within your sight.
  • Do not burn your Manterns candle for more than 3 hours at a time.

When Extinguishing:

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a Mantern – it’s the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering.
  • Never use water to extinguish a candle.
  • Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing before leaving the room.
  • Don’t touch or move the candle until it has completely cooled.
How do I get the wax out of my glass so I can get my drink on?

Your soy-blend candle is contained in a high-quality 11oz rocks glass for you to enjoy long after the candle has burned. While all Manterns’ candle wax is non-toxic, we’re guessing you’ll want to remove it before enjoying your favorite cocktail. The easiest way to do this is to freeze the candle, remove all the wax you can and then wash it with really hot, soapy water or run it through the dishwasher (with “heated dry” turned off).

Shipping Questions

How much is shipping and handling?

We charge flat-rate shipping and handling for our products. The rates are:

  • Ground (1-5 days): $7.99 for the first candle plus $0.99 for each additional candle.
  • 2 Day Air: $21 for the first candle plus $5.50 for each additional candle.
  • Next Day Air: $48 for the first candle plus $8 for each additional candle.

Why so much? 2 reasons. #1, 90% of our candles are shipped to a residential address, for which shipping companies charge $1-3 more per shipment. #2, rising fuel costs have caused shipping companies to raise their rates. We at Very Funny Gifts realize our shoppers are sensitive to shipping and handling costs and are doing everything we can to keep this as low as possible.

Why do you charge a flat shipping fee and not a calculated one?

We charge a flat rate shipping and handling fee because it is easier to implement and track with the shopping cart system we use. Our intent is for the flat rate fee to be an average of the cost to ship around the country and also to make all fees as simple and straightforward for our customers as possible.

Why don’t you ship to where I live?

Currently, Manterns are only available in the United States. We are working hard to expand availability and plan on expanding into Canada and Europe as soon as possible. Keep checking the site for updates!

How long does shipping take?

Our products have 3 shipping options: next day, 2-day and ground. Ground typically takes 1-5 days to arrive once the order is approved.

How can I find out if my order has shipped yet?

When your order is shipped, you will receive an email notifying you. Didn’t receive an email? Check your junk email folder for an email entitled “Your Very Funny Gifts Order Has Shipped!” If you still can’t find it, contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Can I track my order?

Yes, once an order is placed and shipped, you will receive an email that contains all tracking information for your order. Didn’t receive an email? Ordering Questions

When will my order ship?

Orders are processed on a daily basis and are typically authorized for shipment within a maximum of 24 hours from the time the order was placed.

Can I cancel or change my order?

Cancellations and changes to your order can be made by emailing us at via our normal contact form. Include the words “Order Change” in the subject of the email for the quickest response. Because orders are processed at different times of the day, we cannot guarantee that your order can be changed or canceled before it gets shipped. If your order has already shipped and you’d like to make a change, you can simply return the original order for a full refund and can then proceed to place a new order if desired.

Do I have to pay taxes?

Yes, all orders require that you pay a sales and/or use tax. Very Funny Gifts takes care of collecting this tax for GA residents only. If you live somewhere else, you are responsible for calculating and paying a use tax for all goods you’ve purchased throughout the year that you have not paid a sales tax on.

I have a discount code – where do I enter it?

Our discounts are applied to your entire order, including taxes. You enter in your discount code on the same page that you enter your credit card information.

Why am I forwarded to “shopify.com” to pay?

The Very Funny Gifts website is hosted by shopify.com, and they take care of securely processing all payments.

How is my payment secured?

Shopify secures your payment using high-grade, 256 bit encryption. This encryption is verified by Equifax to be a secure and valid website to process payments.

Why won’t my credit card work?

Your credit card may not have worked for a variety of reasons. Check and make sure you did not mistype any of your credit card information, including your billing address.

When does my credit card get charged?

Orders are processed on a daily basis and are typically authorized for payment within a maximum of 24 hours from the time the order was placed.

What is your return policy?

We guarantee everything we sell. If you are not completely satisfied with any of our products or service, you may return them for a 100% refund. See our return policy page for more information on how to return your product.

Something is wrong with my order/You guys sent me the wrong product.

Just enter your name and email address into the form on our homepage and we’ll sign you up! Our newsletter consists of the latest news, cool stuff and promo codes to use towards our products.

Are you gonna spam me?

We will not spam or distribute your email address to any third party. We send out a maximum of one to two newsletters per month.

How do I unsubscribe?

There are instructions in the newsletter for how to unsubscribe. Alternately, you can contact us and we will promptly remove you from the mailing list.
