Manterns - Back in Action

It’s been far too long! Just wanted to write a quick post to let everyone out there know that we’re gearing up for the holiday season and are hard at work hand crafting some more bacon candles. They should be ready by early November – far later than we had hoped, but you can’t rush quality! We’ll be back with some updates. Turkey Day and Christmas Special

Hey all, it’s been a little while. Couple new things going on here at Very Funny Gifts headquarters. First up, we’re doing a couple of specials for the holidays that everyone needs to know about!

Last on the list is an event I want to mention that Very Funny Gifts has decided to help out with. The Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department of Monroe City, IN is hosting a chicken dinner and auction on January 10 to raise funds for their fire and safety education program. Their volunteer firemen go to area schools and teach fire and safety prevention to the children. This is something that my Dad did at my school when I was a kid so it certainly hits close to home and we’re very pleased to donate a few Manterns to the cause. How come nobody told me?

So for two weeks this thing was called “The Very Funnny Gifts Blog”. Nobody saw the extra “n”? C’mon people I’m depending on you to catch all of my mistakes!

The first few weeks of the Very Funny Gifts store have flown by! We’ve had a tremendous response and I’d like to thank everyone for emailing me their comments and ideas. We’ve had a couple questions come in a few times each that I’d like to answer here for the benefit of everyone:

Are you gonna have new Manterns scents?

Yes, we sure are. We’re currently researching new scents so keep sending in those suggestions!

Are you gonna sell anything else besides Manterns?

It’s a “yes” to this one as well. However, we will be concentrating on promoting Manterns for a good while before we bring out new products.

On another note, I wanted to remind everyone that we do in fact ship to PO boxes so don’t worry about having our stuff shipped to them.

Lastly, I wanted to plug a site I frequent as the blogger has been gracious enough to make a fake classified ad about our Manterns. The Bobby Classifieds feature the latest fake ads, meeting agendas, personals and job listings on the web. They're Finally Here!

Well, it sure has been a long time coming. I’m so happy and proud to finally have Manterns available for sale to all the world (OK, only the US for now, but you know what I mean). I sincerely hope all of you that buy one enjoy it and have a good laugh with whoever you give it to. Or a laugh on your own if you’re buying it for yourself. My life is about laughing and having fun and trying to help others do the same, and if I can do that for you through these ridiculous candles, then I’m a pretty happy dude. So, a little history is what you want?

I’m not really sure of when the “candles for men” idea hit. It was at least 5 years ago, prior to an upcoming Christmas holiday. With no good gift ideas for a cousin I see once a year, I went with a nice looking and smelling scented candle. I wondered why everyone isn’t afforded the same luxury of an easy-to-buy gift for any guy in their life. Fast forward 5 years; I read an inspiring book, and here I am, selling Manterns online.

Why “Manterns”? Honestly, I feel like “Mandles” as a word is a little played out and is already in use in many places. Manterns is a play on the word “lantern”, which before Thomas Edison was around was probably a synonym for a candle. So there you go, a unique product with a unique name.

So, going forward, I’d like to use this space to post some thoughts on our product(s), to post links to some things you may find interesting and to keep everyone up to date with any company news.
